When my non-fiction writing professor told us today that we would be keeping a blog for the semester, I instantly panicked. In my mind, there is absolutely nothing worth writing about in my life. I'm a boring, poor college student with a semi-genius husband who spends more time working on homework than he does sleeping. Then, Russ/Professor Beck (but not Mr. Beck) suggested creating a blog with a certain theme or subject. Several thoughts went through my head: a. write about my dog, b. write about my horse, or c. write about Nebraska.
Instantly, I smiled.
Because I knew the stink I could create writing about the difference between my beloved home state and this place I temporarily reside.
I know what you're thinking. Corn. Beef. And miles of flatness. And I would tell you that you're right on all three accounts. But I would also mention the Midwest hospitality, the genuine feeling of home living in the "Heartland," and of course, being a crazed Husker fan.
Forgive me, but this baby don't bleed blue.
